Our Story

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

"This hands down had to be the best non-franchised pizza parlor. They actually sell pizzas by the slice. I had the clams & garlic pizza slice. They were not skimpy with the toppings so I tasted the claims & garlic with ever bite."  - Karman W. on YELP

"Fantastic...thin crisp crust just the way I like it...Salami, Mushrooms and Fresh Garlic...they don't skimp on toppings! Relaxed family vibe. Definitely a great find & we will be back...oh and they've been in business since 1986."  - Judith P. on Google

"Best mushroom pizza I ever had, seriously." - Beverly B. on Google

"You won't be disappointed. Great pizza, generous on toppings, not soggy very good balance.." Alana C. on Yelp

"Hands down best pizza place!
Had the chicken wings which were the best we have ever had and the pizza was delicious. If we weren’t so full we would have ordered another pizza. Definitely will be back!" Danielle R. on Facebook

Mulberry Street is a family owned business. The original owner created the restaurant for his children. He was from New York and named Mulberry Street after the famous street in New York’s Little Italy. In 1986 Ted Rowe purchased Mulberry Street and after 32 successful years, sold the restaurant in 2018 to Bill and Chrisoula Capetanos to continue the legacy.

The original restaurant on Redwood Highway was too small and we moved to the current location in 1992. The menu expanded from a simple salad and several pizzas as our guests began requesting their favorites over and over. Ted’s dad made the Hal’s Pizza from his favorite meats. Ted created the Cajun Sausage and Andouille with Milan Salami (family owned in Oakland) and the Three Beer Pizza was born. The Greek Pizza was a collaboration with the Musco Olive Company (family owed in Tracy). We still don’t know the recipe for the secret Musco spices used to marinate the green olives on that pizza.

Ted’s passion for creating new items for the menu expanded to lasagna and pasta. He couldn’t offer just one dressing for the salad so he created the Blue Cheese and Thousand Island with variations from his mother’s own recipes. His love for Caesar Salad produced another new dressing. It was the same with the addition of the soups. The Cream of Tomato with a Hint of Curry and the Cream of Mushroom have cult followings.

After over 36 years in Marin we feel a strong connection to the community. We live here and support the lives of 20 some employees. We are a small local business and someone is always around to listen to our guests. We feel at home in our community and hope you feel at home and welcome at Mulberry Street.
